Answer Engine Optimisation (AEO) is an industry label for making useful web content easy for search and answer systems to find, understand and cite. It does not replace SEO. Google's current guidance says the same SEO fundamentals apply to AI Overviews and AI Mode, with no special schema, AI text file or other optimisation required. Useful work includes crawlable text, clear answers to real questions, descriptive internal links, a sound page experience and structured data that matches the visible page. Other answer systems work differently, so inclusion cannot be guaranteed.
