In detail

SMB1001 is a cyber security standard published by the Council of Small Business Organisations Australia (COSBOA) and administered through the Cyber Wardens program. It provides three certification tiers, Bronze (basic hygiene), Silver (intermediate controls) and Gold (advanced posture). Each tier maps controls to the ACSC Essential Eight and the NIST Cybersecurity Framework, expressed in language accessible to non-technical business owners. SMB1001 aims to close the gap between the complexity of enterprise standards like ISO 27001 and the practical security needs of Australian small businesses.
